Hilltop Gun Club located at 675 Pearlwood Road Albany Ohio held its Inaugural Steel Challenge Shooting Association Competition April 2 2023. 2 SCSA Target stages were set up including Roundup and Smoke & Hope. Club Stage Director Bob Lust created and set up a tremendously challenging Outlaw Stage.

The Competition had a father and daughter team, that shoot both USPSA & SCSA competitions in their home state of PA come compete. In addition, that was an experience to behold. HGC was represented by 4 members and 5 Ohio University students came to visit the range and received a brief firearms fundamentals lecture and each were taught how to shoot a Pistol. None of these kids had ever seen touched or shot a handgun before.

In addition, a young man visited the competition from Scotland who was on vacation with his girlfriend from Ohio. She is in a Master Degree program currently in Scotland. The Scot turned out to be an excellent shooter. Club member Matthew served chili.

Although it was cold and wet and muddy and all 3 stages were temporarily set up and a lot of learning was required by the Club, overall everyone came away with smiles on their faces and mud on their boots!!

HGC will hold SCSA competitions each month up to and including November.
